6 month update - major milestones

What an exciting month it has been!! Grace is no longer just rolling around the living room...she is army crawling all over the place! If there's something she's eyeing, I can move it around the room and she'll go get it. She's so strong, bright, and very observant. Always looking pensive.

What else is she doing now that she wasn't last month?

-I can't remember if I said it in her 5 month update, but she discovered her feet last month and LOVES happy baby pose. Now she can grab things like her bottle and different toys with both feet like a monkey! She's not only becoming aware of her own body, but other people's as well. She likes banging on her daddy's stomach, playing with his glasses, and she loves playing with beards. All the beards. She likes grabbing my toes, holding my face, sticking her hands in my mouth, playing with my fingers, and slapping my hands and legs.

-Once she became an expert at holding her head up, I thought it'd be fun to break out her stationary jumper. It was getting close to bed time but she stayed up watching me put it together, just laying there, patiently watching me and holding the parts I needed next (such a good baby!) As soon as I put her in it, she immediately knew how to play with everything, discovering all the parts and moving all the pieces. I was in complete awe. She loves all the noise it makes when she gets going!

-After a few days getting used to the stationary jumper, I hung her doorway jumper and MAN she loves that thing! She just smiles and bounces forever. So fun to watch! And now having these things to keep her in one spot, she can entertain herself and I have more time to get things done around the house which is such a blessing.

-I spent my first night away from my baby! Mathias and I went to see Roger Waters in NC with my parents and Scrum, so Mathias's mom came to town to be with Grace. We both did great! Everyone survived with minimal to no separation anxiety haha

-She can sit alone on the ground! Not for very long unassisted, but if I sit behind her and stabilize her hips, she can stay up until she gets bored being in one place. And from a crawling position she can allllmosst sit up on her own...she gets halfway there propped up on one hand and looks at me like "what, #nbd."

-2 teeth!! She has been drooling like crazy for the past 2 months and chewing on Mathias's finger, so I knew she would cut teeth soon. So far, it hasn't really affected her sleep and she's still sleeping about 10 hrs/night. She has so many different teethers and likes going back and forth using each one. Her favorites are this Montessori rattle, Sophie, and this fruit set. We can see two little teeth on the bottom coming through now!

-Eating! At her 4 month appointment, we were given the go-ahead by her pediatrician to try cereal, then veggies, then fruits. I still thought that was a little early, and she hadn't developed her pincer grasp yet, nor had she completely lost the tongue reflex. About a week after she turned 5 months though, she started showing major interest in what we were eating and reaching for food, she lost the tongue reflex, and had an increased appetite. She started grabbing her toys and moving them from one hand to the other, and now she grabs her bottle from me, moves it to her mouth, and feeds herself. *sniffle* Such a big girl! She started sitting really well in her sit-me-up floor chair and I needed no more convincing that Grace was ready and willing to try solids! Mathias started growing carrots a few months ago in preparation for this day, so we steamed and pureed a bunch, and tried it the next day as her first solid food! Lemme tell ya..it was a HIT! This girl loves carrots! Her eyes lit up the first time she tried it and she gave me the biggest grin I've ever seen! Every time we feed her now, she is leaning into each bite with excitement, grabbing the spoon from us and putting it in her mouth, and licking the food off her bib that have somehow escaped her hungry lips. Since we introduced carrots, she's tried oatmeal, sweet potato, squash, peas, and pears. She has loved everything so far and gets so excited when it's meal time! She has the most joyful expressions when eating peas and carrots.

Can't wait to see what this next month holds!
