Hickman party of 3!

As of Mathias's first Father's Day, we are officially Hickman party of 3!

Since November, we made very little progress planning our small Fall wedding in WV. As small of a shindig as we were planning, even the smallest of crowds takes alot of planning (not to mention money), which is especially hard from several states away and with a baby, on top of it being Pep Roll's busiest seasons to date. The mounting stress coupled with the realization that August was just a few months away led us to the final decision to have an even smaller wedding with just the bare necessities... me, Mathias, Grace, Scrum (to marry us), RayRay (to make it legal), and Bee (to provide photographic evidence!)

We hadn't even picked a date until 5 days before it happened. We bought our attire, decorated the backyard, made dinner reservations for just the two of us, and told only those directly involved. The big day came and it was completely stress-free. I created some floral arrangements while Mathias dragged our piano outside and put the finishing touches on the yard. I finished my hair (thanks YouTube tutorials!) and makeup, fed Grace, then said, "OK...let's do this!"

I walked out with Grace in one hand, and a sweetgrass rose bouquet Mathias surprised me with in the other. He started playing Debussy's Claire de lune, the first song he ever played for me years ago, then switched to the bridal march. We made our way to an altar Mathias built and said our vows, with our baby between us.

It was perfect, and we wouldn't have had it any other way

So here's a little slideshow I put together. It's not perfect (and yes, I'm aware you can hear Grace cry out when Scrum instructs us to kiss each other)! It was made, afterall, with an iPhone...but I think it captures the intimacy of our little ceremony perfectly :-) Hope you enjoy
