Nursery Reveal

Here it is! I had no specific vision for the room- it was already painted a light blue from the room reno I did when I first purchased the house and according to Project Nursery, it's a good calming color. Seeing it paired with white acts nicely as a gender neutral color too. The room doesn't exactly have a "theme" ...yet. I figured I'd wait to find out if Baby Hickman is a boy or a girl before I commit. So for now, it's baby themed!

Thanks to those who gave me their Team Boy vs Team Girl predictions! I made your guesses into an art piece with your initials inside each balloon. It came out pretty 50/50 :-)

The glider is still in need of a slipcover. Mom and I poured over different fabrics until we found the perfect print! (Updated photos to come) The glider itself took a while to find because I had quite the checklist. I knew I wanted one that you could not see the exposed wood base, one that still looked like just another inconspicuous piece of furniture and less like a glider...so that eliminated most options. And I knew I wanted one with a low back and wide enough for me to sit with my legs crossed to nurse. Most importantly- the cushions had to be fluffy and comfy!

My "shiplap" crib!! When deciding on a crib, I was first wanting a dark iron one. But then I ran across this beauty, and my heart was set on it! I watched the sale ads meticulously and waited until I thought we'd get the best deal we were going to run across. I notified my MIL and she purchased it for us along with the conversion kit that turns it into a toddler bed. I'm. In. Love!

The closet and the dresser were both weekend projects. The dresser is from my childhood bedroom. In fact, the only new piece of furniture purchased for the nursery was the crib. The dresser used to be sealed and natural wood in color before I left for college, when I sanded it down and painted it matte black. I wanted to keep the room light and bright so I grabbed a small can of Valspar furniture paint in White to give it a facelift. The paint is washable, protects against spills and stains, and best of all- doesn't require prior sanding or priming! It took 3 coats with enough paint leftover to paint the shelving Mathias hung in the closet.

The only thing needed to complete the nursery now is the baby!
