Our Little Pumpkin baby shower

We had our first baby shower!

While we were in WV for Thanksgiving, Mathias's mom and dad hosted a co-ed shower at their house. What I loved most was the laid back nature of the shower...it was more like a post-Thanksgiving get-together sans all of the corny baby shower games. And we did not subject the crowd to 45 min of watching us open presents one by one! Instead, everyone was given a heads up in the invitation that to be in the spirit of being environmentally friendly, we have chosen not to use disposable diapers, and asked that gift wrap be omitted.

So we had all of the baby swag placed in this bassinet Mathias and each of his brothers used as a baby, and thanked each person personally as they arrived and dropped off gifts.

All bets are on!

We started a Due Date prediction calendar pictured here. Friends and family write their name along with AM or PM on the day they think Baby Hickman will arrive. If you're right, you'll win $100...and if you guess boy or girl correctly too, your winnings double to $200. All bets are $20 and go towards Baby Hickman's college fund! The slots are filling up fast and most people appear to be guessing boy :-O
